ChangeMakers
By Cynthia L. Cooper
Tells the story of three incredible women through the eyes of
three girls. After September 11, 2001, the girls want to help,
they imagine how great they could be by recalling the stories
of great women. Clara Barton, the moving force behind the Red
Cross in the U.S.; Ida B. Wells a crusading African American
journalist who righted wrongs and spoke out against violence
and Lakshimi Bai a freedom fighter who fought for India
independence. The girls, together, reacting as their star role
models would, decide that there is something they can do in
the here and now and on their own to mount a campaign to
protect and help their friends from racist attacks after
September 11.
